The Great Commission in Africa
Africa's population is estimated to reach 2.1 billion by 2030, representing over 25% of the global population of 8.2 billion. While businesses and powerful nations are establishing their presence in Africa, the church must consider its responsibility in this context.
Is Jesus' command to make disciples of all nations—to be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth—still relevant today? Consider that of the world's population of 7.3 billion in 2015, only 31.2% identified as "Christians." By biblical standards, the true number may be considerably smaller.
Of the 54 countries in Africa, only about 19 have the Lord's church actively present.
The Salvation Gap
POPULATION SAVED | PERCENTAGE | POPULATION LOST |
---|---|---|
8 BILLION? | 100% | 100% = Heaven |
800 MILLION? | 10% | |
80 MILLION? | 1% | |
8 MILLION? | 0.1% | 99.9% = Hell |
Is God counting on someone here to go? What would be the response if the same question of, 'Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?' (Isaiah 6:8) is asked today?
